Kelly’s Cake Off for a Cause

Self-proclaimed baking enthusiast, Kelly Ripa, Buddy Valastro, from TLC’s “Cake Boss” and Electrolux are teaming up with a virtual campaign that offers Americans a sweet way to make a difference.

On February 9th, five teams of baking enthusiasts were invited to take part in Kelly’s Cake Off, where they used what they learned from Ripa and the Cake Boss, to decorate their own cakes. We need your help to select the winning cake and support a worthy cause. For every vote cast in the Cake Off, Electrolux will donate $1 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF).

While you are there, get in on the decorating action and send your own masterpiece. Visit Kelly’s Cakery to decorate and send your own special virtual cake to a friend, family member or loved one. For every cake sent, Electrolux will donate another $1 to OCRF. Plus, to help spread the word, everyone who sends a virtual cake will be automatically entered for a chance to win every baker’s dream: a stylish new Induction Range from Electrolux. The new induction range is perfect for melting chocolate and cooking delicate foods and sauces, more responsive than gas, and eco-friendly, too.

You can also check out top cake decorating tips and videos from Buddy. Even sign up to receive a call from Kelly on your birthday!

Visit Kelly Ripa’s “Cakery For a Cause” to support the fight against Ovarian Cancer.

Happy Voting!

BH&G Storage Magazine Favorites Continued

Our recap of the BH&G (SIP) Storage Magazine “Tackle Tough Clutter” special continues with Living Spaces.  This section focuses on simple strategies to create a welcoming and clutter-free living, family, or dining room.  Writer Deanne Edwards & Producers Doug Hansen and Molly Reid Sinnett dig in and offer up solutions to improving storage and organization in your most entertainment driven rooms.

De-clutter plans include creating the Ultimate Family Room with a divide-and-conquer strategy (one of my favorite tactics), building the perfect, well-stocked, Snack Centers (an area of interest for our Media Marketing Manager, Steve), and the use of Accent Tables to create “handy landing spots that yield style and substance” to your living areas.

Adding a Peel and Stick Slate Chalkboard Sheet to the inside door of your Living Room cabinets is a fun way for kids and parents to write notes and reminders that can quickly and easily be hidden away when you have surprise guests drop by.

I have always been fond of China and the many ways people choose to display/store their special dinnerware.  Deanne, Doug, and Molly offer up fun solutions for displaying your fine China without a stuffy feel.

To finish off Living Spaces the group details simple retail solutions for decorating a fun and functional entertainment room; and who doesn’t love to entertain?

Check back soon for more great ideas from BH&G (SIP) Storage Magazine.

Happy Organizing!

BH&G Storage Magazine Favorites Continued

BHG Storage Magazine (Special Interest Publication) has the Organize.com stamp of approval for hundreds of ideas on products and solutions that will help you get organized!

“The Ultimate Kitchen” was a favorite, since we all spend so much time in the kitchen.  In this segment, Writer Kristin Schmitt and Project Editor Linda Eggerss explain how a carefully planned layout can accommodate a family’s varying schedules and help keep your busy family on track. “In The Zone” = Task-specific spaces that are key players in a family’s day-to day- hustle. The players are: feed, gather, host, work and enter. Perfectly stated – right? Designated areas stay more organized and within a short amount of time, the entire family knows what goes where and they will be more inclined to put things back in their designated space.

The Kitchen Spaces segment helps identify untapped storage potential, streamline access to your important herbs and spices, keep pantries and kitchen cabinets clutter-free, and optimize your kitchen’s storage capacity by pointing you towards storage and organizational products that are both functional and fashionable.

If you need some “Corner Logic“, this espresso-stained fruitwood corner shelf  collapses and folds flat for space-saving storage when not in use.

Creating “The Ultimate Kitchen” can be a challenge, but taking it one step at a time and following simple project steps can be manageable and rewarding. Great job BHG Storage.

Happy  Organizing!

BH&G Storage Magazine

Bravo! Absolutley Bravo and stellar performance by Better Homes & Gardens Special Interest Publications (SIP) Storage Magazine for their Early Spring Storage Magazine  Issue. If you haven’t already picked up a copy, run (and we mean run before they are gone!) to your nearest stand to pick up one of the best issues we’ve seen. It’s filled with excellent ideas that will help you “Tackle Tough Clutter” in just about every room or area of your house.

As Editor Samantha Thorpe points out, “The best storage solutions solve problems without breaking your budget”. Samantha and her team of writers, producers, project editors, photographers, photo stylists, art directors, have put together “thrifty fixes” for real problems. There are great step-by-step solutions from the Storage Doctor (Kathy Jenkins),  Storage for Shoe Lovers (Really?? Was this written for me?!), creating the perfect bath closet (Organized Audrey – Audrey Thomas), Reference Guide 2010 on Closet Systems (remodelingcenter.com), Paper Work Pile Up, (Jean Schissel Norman and Meredith Ladik Drummond) and 41 Fast & Easy Fixes for just about ANYTHING you can think of (Brian Kramer, Adam Albright & Marty Baldwin). There are just too many  project ideas to list in one article, so I’m going to continue this until I’ve covered it all. We’ll include ideas and pictures that made “the O list” from the bathroom to the garage.

BHG Storage SIP has the Organize.com stamp of approval for hundreds of ideas on products and solutions that will help you get organized!

Happy Organizing!
